MARATON DE SEVILLA IS THE FLATTEST MARATHON COURSE IN EUROPE
Maraton de Sevilla 2014,
February 23rd achieves the prestigious IAAF Bronze Label
status on its 30th edition. It’s the first time in history that Maraton de
Sevilla, one of the best marathon events in Spain, has been awarded with the
title ‘IAAF Bronze Label’, an official label from the International
Associations of Athletics Federation that recognizes quality, services, promotion
and communication, elite participation amongst other parameters.
This important recognition, not many marathon races worldwide have such
title, will boost the internationalization and growth process of the race. Maraton
de Sevilla is the flattest marathon course in Europe. It’s already sold out for
the 2014 edition: 9,000 runners will be lined up on the start line on February
23rd.
Maraton de Sevilla is already an IAAF Bronze Label race, and a perfect high quality event for the international athletes and their families, linking its huge tradition –30 years, organizing an amazing competition really well rated by the athletes and Spanish Federation, with a brand new race course. The marathon will take place through the streets around well known monuments such as the Giralda, the third largest Cathedral in the world, La Real Maestranza bullring, Torre del Oro, Plaza de España, Archivo de Indias, Reales Alcazares –Royal Palace and many beautiful and traditional streets in one of the largest historic old city centre in the world. In addition, athletes will pass through the modern side of Sevilla, in La Cartuja (the site of the 1992 World Exposition) and some of the most important and picturesque neighborhoods: Triana, la Macarena...
The IAAF Bronze Label is attributed to
races that satisfy a number of important criteria concerning the organizational
standard of the race, course measurement, elite athletes involved in the race,
safety and medical standards and media and international promotion services. IAAF Road Race Label Events are annual
running
competitions which have been granted recognition by the International
Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) as being among the foremost competitions of their
type
